Now in the cinema - A Monster Calls

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

The Monster arrives just after midnight. As they do.
But Conor didn't run.
In fact, he wasn't even frightened.
All he could feel, all he had felt since the monster revealed itself, was a growing disappointment.
Because this wasn't the monster he was expecting.

"Shout all you want," Conor shrugged, "I've seen worse."
You really aren't afraid, are you?
"No," Conor said. "Not of you, anyway."
The monster narrowed its eyes.
You will be, it said. Before the end.

It can feel really hard to know when you need to reference something, and when it is ok leave it as it is. Here is a quick guide to let you know when you need to acknowledge someone else's work:

Everything, Everything book to movie.

"Everything, Everything is about the thrill and heartbreak that happens when we break out of our shell to do crazy, sometimes death-defying things for love."

 Nicola Yoon

Seventeen year old Madeline is literally allergic to everything. She is stuck inside the house being cared for by her mother. One day Madeline looks out the window and sees a tall, lean boy dressed all in black. His name is Ollie and he is moving in next door. They begin communicating online.

Prepare for a shock after the two finally meet face to face!

Good News!
