Word searching within a page

How often do you find yourself in this situation?

You've opened up a web page or .pdf document that should have some useful information on it. But instead of being able to quickly locate what you are looking for you are faced with long, text heavy page that will take a lot of reading to pinpoint the one section you are interested in.

Sound like too much work? But what is the alternative? Maybe you could keep searching for another, easier page. But that also sounds like a lot of work, and might not produce as much information as the page you are on. If what you are looking for is not basic information, there might not even be another page.

What if you could have the best of both worlds?

Well, the good news is you can - Using the Command F short cut will allow you to search for key words on a page, those key words that can help you quickly zoom to the section of the page that actually tells you what you want to know.

Book Trailer - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs.

A horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows. [blurb from Goodreads.com]

Book Trailer: Reboot

Reboot by Amy Tintera

Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as
a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).

Wren’s favorite part of the job is training new Reboots, but her latest newbie is the worst she’s ever seen. As a 22, Callum Reyes is practically human. His reflexes are too slow, he’s always asking questions, and his ever-present smile is freaking her out. Yet there’s something about him she can’t ignore. When Callum refuses to follow an order, Wren is given one last chance to get him in line—or she’ll have to eliminate him. Wren has never disobeyed before and knows if she does, she’ll be eliminated, too. But she has also never felt as alive as she does around Callum.

The perfect soldier is done taking orders.

Book Review: We Were Liars

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.

We are Sinclairs.
Beautiful. Privileged. Damaged. Liars.
We live, at least in the summertime, on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts.
Pehaps that is all you need to know.
Except that some of us are Liars…
Cady
Gat
Mirren
Johnny

My name is Cadence Sinclair Eastman. I am the eldest Sinclair grandchild. Heiress to the island, the fortune, and the expectations.
Well, probably.

Cady can’t remember what happened., all she knows is what she’s told. And they’re not telling  her everything.
Something happened in Summer 15. Something that would change her life forever.
When Cady comes back to Beechwood in Summer 17, something is different. The Aunties aren’t fighting… Granddad is calling everyone Mirren… The Littles are nicer… and The Liars are exactly the same as two summers ago.

The question is, what happened 2 summers ago? As her memories come back one by one, Cady writes them down on sticky notes, creating a layout of what she knows. But she’s missing something, something to fit the whole thing together.

Did something happen between her and Gat? Between the Aunties? She has to find out.
Cady needs to know what happened. There’s just one problem… Here is the truth about the beautiful Sinclair family, they lie.
How is Cady supposed to piece together summer 15 when no one will help her? Why wont they help her?

But then Cady remembers, and her because so he whole world comes crashing down.

In this thrill ride of a novel from E. Lockhart, you’ll be on a roller coaster ride of emotions.
Follow Cady’s journey as she tries to come to grips with everything and navigate life after the accident of summer 15.

Read it. And if anyone asks how it ends… JUST LIE.
(Text from a book trailer by Zoe Leigh).

Accidental Cyberbullying? Reword.it

Have you ever been in that situation where, because you were feeling angry, or hurt, or upset, you posted something you later regretted?

Have you ever been at the receiving end of a hurtful post?

Have you ever wished you could take your words back, because you didn't want to hurt someone, you only wanted them to notice?

Do you want a tool on your browser that checks your posts for hurtful content the way a spell checker checks your spelling? Maybe something that checks you are sure you want to say something before you say it?

Headspace has developed a tool that might do that. It wont stop you saying what you want to say, but it will ask if you are sure, to remind you not to post in anger or frustration.
